Palms Curref
The Palms Curref is another example of how to make good jointed lures specifically for saltwater fishing.
We already know what the advantages of jointed lures are, the great mobility and that way of swimming that leaves no room for interpretation, it is as natural as possible, that is to say it tries to reproduce the wriggling of a fish which is exactly what the Palms Curref does as you can see in the minute 14:30 of the video that you find at the end of this page and that I recommend you to see.
Another advantage of the Palms Curref is that the ballerina is quite heavy, the 95mm weighs 19 grams which is not bad, and if we add to this that the joints have been studied to reduce the angles that can be acquired during the cast we can get an idea of how to take advantage of this hard bait even if we look for fish a little further away.
On the brand's website there are more explanations about the design of the lure and what I think is important to underline is the swivel that holds the belly swivel, which, thanks to its mobility, is said to avoid or reduce the possibility of the fish, during the fight, getting unhooked. It makes sense, it reduces the stiffness of the lever and the fish has less chance of leverage, in short, one more idea that may or may not be marketing and that takes away or adds to the Curref of Palms whatever you want to appreciate.
For us what is really interesting is the action of this type of lures and its versatility in different types of fishing, let's say that the main objective is the sea bass, the Japanese have designed it for it, but it is because they do not have many more coastal species, perhaps the flat fish that abound here by its scarcity. We think the Palms Curref is a great match for barracuda, in fact, this is something we've experienced first hand, and I'd give it a go with bluefish and leerfish when they're less frantic. Last, but not in order of importance would be the dentex and by the coasts of the Canary islands start adding up species, a blast.
Do you know why we highly recommend lures like the Palms Curref? Because in our waters they are a rarity, they have hardly been seen, they haven't vibrated much, the critters don't know them. If we think outside the box, it is a great advantage to be able to explore our favourite spots with a lure that is presented for the first time, but you already know that.
